About Cancer

Dallas Oncology Consultants

The founders of the Cancer Institute of Dallas – the physicians of Dallas Oncology Consultants, or DOCSs – opened their first office at Methodist Dallas Medical Center on July 1, 1996. DOCs initially confined its hematology/oncology program to the patients of the Methodist Healthcare Systems, plus any others who might be referred.

From the beginning, an overriding philosophy of DOCs has been to make care available to as many patients as possible. Today, DOCs has expanded to seven physicians dedicated to the care of hematologic and oncologic diseases. The practice has also expanded to four offices including hospitals beyond the Methodist Healthcare System. The physicians of the practice are active in the teaching of internal medicine and family practice residents at the Methodist Hospitals of Dallas. In addition, medical students and pharmacy interns from different area programs have also elected to participate in our educational activities.

With ongoing practice maturity, the physicians of DOCs have become quite active in clinical research beginning in October 2004. Since that time, numerous patients have elected to participate in various clinical studies. In fact, Dallas Oncology Consultants has surpassed the registration rates of many of the country’s medical schools in various studies.

Dallas Oncology Consultants believes in giving back to our community. The employees, including the physicians, have established an annual Christmas fund. The purpose of this fund is to help ensure that Christmas gifts would be available for those patients whose situation prevents them from celebrating the holidays. Our employees are active participants in the DFW area Oncology Nursing Society, as well as, the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer 3-Day and the National Cancer Survivors’ Day activities.

State-of-the-art, compassionate, personalized care. That’s Dallas Oncology Consultants.
